Postdoctoral Fellows

Anvita Gopal completed her Ph.D. at the IIT in Gandihinagar, India examining the effect of John Henryism on mental health within the Indian caste system. Her work will focus on the neural (EEG) and psychophysical dynamics of boredom, as well as examining the role of technology and social connectedness for those high in boredom proneness.

Graduate Students

Allison Drody completed her undergraduate degree at UBC and is interested in mind-wandering, attention, and boredom. Her work explores a number of things including the possibility that typical cognitive psychological experimentation has worked exceptionally well to induce boredom. Allison is also interested in media multi-tasking — are we really capable of doing more than one thing at a time?

Chantal Trudel is completing an MA in Cognitive Neuroscience where she will examine the relation between boredom proneness and the capacity to make meaning from pseudo-random stimuli.

Vanessa Baaba Dadzie is completing her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience. She completed her Master’s degree at the United Arab Emirates University and joined the lab in 2021. Her work focuses on understanding the relationship between boredom and agency. Baaba also maintains an interest in exploring possible cross-cultural differences in the experience of boredom and agency.

Jessica Lee is completing her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience exploring the developmental profile of psychopathy and its influence on intimate relationships.

Jamie Nettinga completed her undergraduate degree at UW in 2020. Her current project explores boredom, self-control, and self-esteem in relation to EEG brain scans of children and teenagers through a collaboration with Professor Teena Willoughby at Brock University.
